Class Descriptions
Heartsaver- First Aid, CPR, AED (4 hours)
American Heart Association’s Heartsaver courses are designed to prepare students to provide first aid, CPR, and use an AED in a safe, timely, and effective manner.
Heartsaver Instructor-led training is conducted in a classroom setting and features group interaction and hands-on coaching and feedback from an AHA Instructor. Students also complete a written exam. (Optional from Community Care Training Services, students may complete CPR, First Aid, AED elsewhere. Community Care Training Services will accept CPR, First Aid, AED from any authorized American Heart Association or Red Cross Provider.)
Financial assistance is not available to students; CCTS does not participate in the federal student aid program.
Home Health Aide Training- (65 hours theory, 20 hours lab, 40 hours clinical- 125 hours total)
The Home Health Aide Training course provide students with theory, lab, and clinical instructions. This instruction provides training on topics such as handwashing, taking vital signs, bed making, applying elastic stockings, transferring a patient, care of an ostomy, and administering and monitoring oxygen. Upon successful completion of this training, students will be able to sit for the NNAAP examination to become DC Board of Nursing Certified Home Health Aides.
